Guiseley Gap Circular Walk (8.8 miles)
This circular walk is 8.8 miles long and goes through hilly millstone grit countryside, Chevin Forest park and the Parkinson’s {ark in northwest Leeds. Along the trail stunning views are afforded towards the Penning Dales, Wharfe Valley and the South Pennines. The route also crosses a distinctive geological feature called the Guiseley Gap, a glacial U-shaped ‘hanging valley’ that links Wharfedale and Airedale.
The trail has many interesting historical features from the medieval to the industrial, in an area once on the northern edge of the British Kingdom of Elmet. These have been highlighted along with the flora and fauna likely to be spotted.
The walk is part of the Northwest Leeds Country Park.
